Frequently Asked Questions

Our 5-Phase Health Assessment includes: an AI-powered virtual health analysis, at-home biological testing, wearable device tracking, an in-person longevity assessment, and a virtual nutrition and gut health evaluation.

Clinexa is our intelligent AI system that conducts a comprehensive 2-hour health analysis, collecting detailed data about your lifestyle, sleep, medical history, movements and more — creating a personalized foundation for your wellness journey.

It depends what service you get. Your pre-assessment is done online before you see our team. The reason why we do this to have all of the foundational information to hand BEFORE we see you. Then we can order most of your tests BEFORE we see you! For example our genetics testing kits are designed for at-home use. We may send you for bloodwork at a local healthcare facility. The in-person assessments takes place at our Rothesay facility. You may then be followed up virtually or in person depending on your needs.

Most people have tried to make positive changes in their lives. Sometimes it "sticks". Often is doesn't. Or maybe you've worked really hard to stay on the path of self improvement and health and for whatever reason things go sideways. I've been there! The evidence from nealy every trial and in every health situation shows that FOLLOW UP AND SUPPORT ARE ESSENTIAL. Some of the programs, for example body composition and mental health only really work if you are supported regularly. Which is very different to something like the Endurace assessment which is designed for athletes already embedded in a training program. For many of the Longevity services we recommend a year of coaching, tailored to you needs from a Gut Health Dietitian, or a certified Health Coach, or a psychologist.

New urgent medical care

Unscheduled assessments for new problems by one of our doctors is billed to medicare. For example, you've been injured, or develop a new illness, or a new mental health problem. Make an appointment! This is the same as if you were seen in any other walk in medical clinic. Our physiotherapy, chiropractic and psychology team can also refer you to one of our doctors if they have specific medical concerns.

Existing urgent medical problems.

We frequently identify urgent medical problems during our longevity assessments. For example you absolutely SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY! We cannot however manage an urgent or new medical problem during a longevity or performance assessment.

We will make an appointment for you with one of our MDs in a separate consultation. It's the law - literally!

Tests to investigate new or urgent medical problems

Again, this should be covered by the Provincial health plan. If you need blood tests, X-rays, scans or consults for significant new or urgent medical problems this is requested through the existing medical system.

Health screening tests recommended by the Province or consensus guidance:

Cancer Screening.

If we find that you have missed routine screening we will help arrange this within the public system. Some of the illnesses that should be routinely screened are described below:

Breast Cancer:

Who: Women, trans men, and gender diverse people aged 40 to 74.

What: Mammogram.

When: Every one to two years for ages 40-49, and every two to three years for ages 50-74.

How: Contact a breast cancer screening site.

Cervical Cancer:

Who: Women, trans men, and gender diverse people with a cervix aged 25 to 69 who have ever been sexually active.

What: Pap test.

When: Yearly until three consecutive negative tests, then every three years.

How: Talk to a doctor, nurse practitioner, or screening clinic.

Colorectal Cancer

Who: People at average risk (over 50, no symptoms) aged 50 to 74.

What: Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT).

When: Every two years.

How: People at high risk should talk to their doctor about more frequent or earlier screening.

Prostate Cancer

The Canadian Cancer Society suggests at-risk men, such as Black men and those with a family history of prostate cancer, discuss screening starting around age 45, while men at average risk might consider it from age 50.

Services covered by Health Insurance:

The following services are usually covered by health insurance. Many health insurances do require a "co-pay" which is a contribution you make. How much you co-pay depends on your individual policy. We will submit insurance claims to your medical insurance provider. We will ask you to pay the co-pay during your first attendance to the clinic.

Longevity Physician.

Enhanced cancer detection

Atlantic Canada has higher cancer incidence and death rates than other parts of Canada, with specific provinces like Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia having the highest cancer death rates. While diagnosis at later stages is a problem across Canada, particularly for lung cancer, research is ongoing to understand why outcomes like mortality are worse in Atlantic Canada, with factors like socioeconomic status, health system access, and rural populations potentially playing a role.

We are developing a number of enhanced cancer screening protocols to address this inequity:

Ovarian Cancer

There is no routine ovarian cancer screening recommended for women in Canada because current tests, such as transvaginal ultrasound and the CA-125 blood test, are not effective at reducing the risk of death from the disease and have a high rate of false-positive results.

We are developing a hybrid approach for Ovarian Cancer screening that uses a combination of ultrasound, AI and "liquid biopsy" technology. This service launches shortly.

Thyroid Cancer

There is no routine screening for thyroid cancer at a specific age in Canada; screening is recommended only for individuals with risk factors, such as a family history of thyroid cancer, exposure to radiation, or the presence of a suspicious neck nodule. For asymptomatic individuals without risk factors, routine screening for thyroid dysfunction is also not recommended by the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care.

Again we a developing a novel hybrid approach for thyroid cancer detection that uses ultrasound, bloodwork, AI and liquid biopsy technology. This service launches soon.

If you decide that you need enhanced cancer screening, for example breast MRI where there is increased familial risk or you have dense breast tissue, or need cancer genetics, this can be arranged with minimal wait times and needs to paid for privately.

Yes. You can use your existing wearable device, or we can provide one for you to help monitor and collect your daily health metrics effectively.
